The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce proudly supports April as the Month of the Military Child and encourages our community to Purple Up, celebrating military children everywhere.

In 1986, Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger established April as the Month of the Military Child. While military installations have regularly celebrated the Month of the Military Child, we recognize that there are communities out there that may not know of this initiative or have ideas on how to show their support for the military child. It is the goal of Purple Up USA to celebrate the military child and raise awareness about these wonderful children.

With a rich history within the military and San Antonio known as “Military City, USA”, we recognize the invaluable contributions of service members and their families.

Throughout the year, the Greater San Antonio Chamber hosts many events to honor our military men, women, and families, including Military Spouse Appreciation, Command Reception, Celebrate America's Military Spirit of America Dinner, and Women in the Military. These events serve as opportunities to express our gratitude and admiration for the sacrifices made by all those who support the defense and security of our great Nation.

As we commemorate the Month of the Military Child this April, let us not only recognize the resilience and unique sacrifice of our military children but also reaffirm our commitment to supporting them every step of the way.
